Just a small piece of news on getting published: as mentioned in my Jayne Lloyd portfolio review post, on her suggestion I entered five of the Remembering Forgetting images (shorn of the accompanying text and contextualisation) into the Shutter Hub Everyday Delight open call.
I was interested I seeing to what extent the images ‘worked’ as photos without the wrapper of the conceptual framework.
I was pleased to find out that two of them were selected and included in the online exhibition.
I got some nice feedback online, including someone saying that the pictures were “evocative”. I like that word.
I still think that the images work best as part of the series and with the text fragments, but I am more easy-going now about the idea of letting some of them out in the world as simple ambiguous images.
